Our feasibility study for this town house development pointed us towards flexibile, high performance, delightful townhouse that cater for different stages of life – young children, the teenage retreat, sole occupants working from home. Virtually in the business district of Castlemaine these houses provide excellent walkability and connection to resources including shops and public transport. They borrow much from the Victorian and a bit from French colonial housing types – private but still very social – and with abundant north facing areas and a passive solar design. The manageable, productive and shareable courtyards are almost green field ideals layered over urban spaces. We stack up investment in energy efficient technologies and products against low running costs and reduced mortgage terms and/or long to medium term costs.
