This transformation of an existing Bendigo Old Vineyard House in Quarry Hill to a contemporary home is more than just a facelift: – the project enables us to push the design boundaries with an ambitious client. The challenge was to create a personalized layout within the existing parameters and respecting the heritage overlay
at the same time. We wanted to introduce new elements while preserving the old features. The dynamic exterior is influenced by the existing roof design which is a predominant feature of the houses along the street. The design also endeavours to reclaim a portion of the site to become an intimate yet conducive courtyard to allow the clients some external private open area.
