Noh House, Campbells Creek is house for a childrens’ story book writer and a story-teller. The new buildings are in a conversation with the existing sheds and old dairy building on the site. The Noh House takes its inspiration from the mechanisms and forms of the theatre, such as the Japanese Noh Theatre and the western Box Set. We have created a series of courtyards with different levels of privacy, to connect the different parts of the building and to create different spaces for performance, play, writing and retreat. The model shown is an early working model used to help position the buildings on the site in order to maximise the quality of the outdoor spaces and keep as many trees as possible.
